My heart is jumping out of my chest right now! Today has been a breakthrough day for Allie. Small steps but huge ones no the less. Thank you God and thank you all of our friends, you have blessed and carried us. You have hit this blog over 1000 times in the last few days, that's alot of support for Nancy and I and alot of love for Allie.
Now for some GREAT news:
First - Allie is totally off of the ventilator since 12:00 noon and has been breathing unassisted since that time. She is getting oxygen but she has definitely gone to the next level.
Second - Allie made more purposefil movements with her right arm. This is funny. I put the plastic tube she scratched her head with yesterday back in her hand, she oved it aroung feeling it's shape, she then carefully took the round part and put it in her ear as if it were a q-tip. She was telling us something - there was dried blood in her ear that itched and needed to be cleaned out. Now that's cognitive thinking. Remember, she has not woken up yet. The brain is clearly working.
Allie is also moving her head, scratching areas where the taped bandages are and is moving her hips.
Now for the coolest part of all. We noticed Allie was getting bored with the ball and the bracelet she had been playing with so at dinner time we went to the Family Dollar and bought alot of baby toys that would stimulate her including a little keyboard.
When we got back from dinner the nurse (angel) told us that she had been moving around like crazy and indeed she had. Her eyes were wide open, she was yawning and man I though she was ready to wake up - she didn't but she did the next best thing - she followed a command we had been asking her to do for 14 days now - she raised one finger when asked to do so and then she did it again - this was NO mistake. I nearly fainted and I am weak in the knees right now.
We let out a scream of happiness and the nurses came running - she didn't do it for them but there were 3 witnesses that saw it. It was no mistake! Nancy then placed a ball in her hand. The ball has a string on it. When you pull the string, the ball vibrates. Nancy would hold the ball, put Allie's finger through the string and ask Allie to pull it - she did it 4 times. Thank you God, you are truly powerful and sustain us.
Allie will be back to 100%. We know it, we feel it and we have never felt otherwise. We continue to provide her with positive affirmations, energy healing, touch therapy and alot of love but truly we could not do it without you. Please forward this blog to everyone on your mailing list. Now is the time to boost up the prayers, prayer lists, wished and comments.
Please keep your thoughts and wishes coming, they're working.
We love you!!!!!!

I have worked with Allie in BLT productions. She has always been a wonderful part of each show. She has a great talent and an even greater heart. I am so sorry that your family is going through this, but I am very excited about the progress that she is making. You are all in my thoughts daily. Thank you for creating a blog to keep us all updated.

Oh, my heart is about to leap out of my chest now. I am so thrilled she is doing these little but amazing things.
I also wanted to say how wonderful it is to hear you talk about your wife in such a loving way. Many times these things tear a family apart but your family is pulling together. You are wonderful!
Still praying,
Love Donna
Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I can hardly see the screen for my tears. They are rolling down my face with joy. God will continue to sustain you all as He continues to heal Allie. I know you are excited as well as relieved. It has been a very long two weeks for you, but there is no time restrictions in God's time and His time is perfect.
We love you and will share this information with everyone.

Allie,
You are in my thoughts. Even though I am not old enough to have a baby of your age, I have a toddler at home and her small steps give me so much joy.. And her hurts give me so much pain that I can understand what Steve and Nancy must be going through.. May God be with you and your family... I am around the world .. in India... and so we are praying for your recovery 24 hrs!...
I am sure you can go through this easily.. so simply, Fight and get back to life :)
Good Morning Allie, Steve, Nancy and Matt,

Praise God! What an exciting day Monday was for all of you! Thank you so very much for all the detail, I feel as though I am there with you and can cheer right along your side. What an incredible day, Allie is an amazing young lady...just what you would expect from loving, focused and energetic parents. Huge hugs and love to you all, Ruth
Thank God, thank you Universe - these are wonderful improvements! Steve, you and Nancy are so intuitive concerning Allie that it reminds me of parents gently guiding a young one through new waters of healing. This is such wonderful news and I've forwarded this site to everyone I know!! To Allie - You are so present and so strong in all our hearts - we are there with you every moment. We are all the lucky ones to have the Cagen family in our lives. Tibby and Homer
Hurray!!!!
Thankyou God for these encouraging signs of Allie's awareness and strength of will. She's going to make it!
This morning as I woke up the image of Allie happily riding a physical therapy bike popped into my mind.
Big hugs to you all, Cagen family.
With love,
Ondine
Way to go Allie!! What tremendous progress!! We are praying for a complete and speedy recovery!! Please tell Allie how much we enjoyed her performance in the musical. She looked lovely and what a beautiful voice. May God have you singing again in no time!! Love, Libby and Charity Aiken
I'm so excited about Allie's advancements! Everyone that comes into Traci's sees Allie's info sheet and asks about her, so I've been telling them what I know and giving them the blog address. Much love to you guys and have faith. If there is anything we can do just let us know. And Mike, Mom, and Blake say hi.
